The Position
Lithium Lasers is looking for a Laser Technician to support the assembly, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of femtosecond laser systems. The ideal candidate is hands-on, technically capable, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, innovation-driven environment where precision, safety, and reliability are critical.
This role will support both prototype development and production activities, working closely with engineers and other technical staff to ensure laser systems meet performance, quality, and safety requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble, align, calibrate and test femtosecond laser systems, optical components, and subsystems.
- Perform routine maintenance, inspection, and repair of laser equipment and associated electronics, cooling systems, and mechanical assemblies.
- Troubleshoot faults in laser, optical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems.
- Support prototype builds, experimental setups, and engineering validation activities.
- Execute test procedures and document results accurately and clearly.
- Assist in integration of lasers into customer or internal systems.
- Maintain cleanroom, laboratory, or production workspaces in accordance with company standards.
- Follow laser safety procedures and ensure compliance with relevant safety regulations and internal protocols.
- Manage tools, spare parts, consumables, and service records.
- Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and R&D teams to improve system performance, manufacturability, and serviceability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of assembly methods, test processes, and technical documentation.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in photonics, electronics, physics, mechatronics or a related technical field.
- Experience in assembly, maintenance, or testing of laser systems, optical instruments, scientific equipment, or precision electro-mechanical systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, assembly instructions, and test procedures.
- Familiarity with optical alignment techniques and use of laboratory instrumentation.
- Basic understanding of electronics, sensors, power supplies, and motion/control systems.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and follow documented procedures.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and disciplined working practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic experience working with solid-state, fiber, diode, or ultrafast laser systems.
- Familiarity with beam delivery systems, mirrors, lenses, mounts, and alignment tools.
- Basic experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, power meters, beam profilers, or spectrometers.
- Knowledge of laser safety standards and safe laboratory practices.
- Basic experience in a manufacturing, photonics, or high-tech R&D environment.
- Basic software or control-system familiarity for equipment setup and diagnostics.
